Main Level

The Main level is the floor that visitors will come in at. It is also the communal space, office, guest wing, outdoor space, and access to the pool. This is likely to be the most active floor with the most going on. The areas are as follows:

Great Room

Supporting for 10 people, there will be seating including a U sectional couch. There will also be chairs, end tables, and a bit more. There will also be end tables where someone could plug their phones into, and any tablets as well. Speaking of tablets, there will be an iPad mini with Apple home scenes to change conditions. In example, “Bedtime” will turn on the alarm to Home, run track lighting in the hallway, and turn on all of the communal spaces to 5% brightness with the LED bulbs.

There will be an 85″ basic TV with an Apple TV (with ethernet) plugged into the TV. This will allow me to use the Apple TV’s smart capabilities to watch TV through the Tablo App, or cable channels through the Sling app. I will also have access to other streaming services, but I am sure you get the picture. If there are gamers in the family, I will get them a family Xbox, or Playstation. Since everyone that has a smart phone will have one that charges via USB-C, then there will be a single cable for everything.

As for telephony communications, there will be a Grandstream WP810 which is the same phone that are in the apartments. Line 1 will be the primary penthouse line. Line 2 will be the intercom line. To assure that everything will work well, this phone will be on the building’s phone network which is where all of the phones are connected to. All other phones in the penthouse will use the private penthouse’s network. One advantage to this, I could make a pizza order, and tell them to have the driver call when on his way so I can meet them in the public foyer.

Guest Suite

This design will be a 3B/2b/1l apartment style guest residence. There is a great room, kitchen, and office. This is intended for anyone that might want to spend overnight, or maybe a week. There is one rule, and that is no smoking in the guest wing. Smoking is to be done outside which isn’t too bad since there is outdoor space already. The guest wing will be completely furnished, and when I am expecting someone to spend enough time, I will stock up on the refrigerator for when they want private dinners. They will of course be welcomed to eat with me, and my family.

Since everyone has a cellular phone these days, the WP810 for the guest wing will likely never be used. This does not plug into the intercom system, so the phone won’t ring when there is a visitor in the public foyer. There is just one line on the phone, and that would be a private phone number.

There is no private entry into the guest wing. When exiting, they will exit into the great room of the penthouse. With that said, this can’t be a legal apartment, and the guest wing will not have an apartment of 3202. This is as you would expect from a guest wing. However, it matters very little as I don’t see me getting too many overnight guests.

Kitchen

This will be designed around what would a chef do if they had a blank slate, but somewhat limited space. Yes, I will get a professional chef to design the kitchen, and bring it to an architect to do the actual dimensions, and blueprints. Counters, and islands will use black paperstone rather than looking for granite.

Lavatory

Basically, a toilet and a sink. This eliminates the need to have to go upstairs to use the toilet. This maximizes the time spent with family and friends, as when you need to go, you need to go. There will be a mirror, but no medicine cabinet. The lights will be above the mirror for easy replacements.

Office

A desk, and a printer stand will be the standard pieces. There is also a Grandstream professional phone that would host multiple accounts so I can do everything from one phone rather than needing multiple phones. This is because this phone can support 16 accounts which is more than I would need to do, especially if ring groups are involved. The printer will not have fax capability. Instead, it will use an eFax system to send and receive faxes. This also applies to the home fax line too.

Outdoor Space

A small section for the dogs to defecate, but the majority of the rest of the space will be intended to be greenspace. For the fact the penthouse is 32 stories above the ground, there will be no trees. There are also no heavy playground items like swings or jungle gyms considering I am likely putting enough strain on the floor below with the swimming pool. Still, it is a space for children or dogs to run and enjoy themselves.

Pool House

On the shallow end, it is 3′ deep. On the deep end, it is 10′ deep. The pool will be a great way to exercise, and do so in an enjoyable sense. And since this pool is technically indoors, the pool can be used all year round. Unlike most of the other doors in the Main level, the door to the pool house will be locked with limited access. This will be in case I was to have foster children, and they don’t know how to swim, this will be a place where someone can supervise them rather than letting the water get over their head. The interior perimeter will have a track for those that wish to run instead of swim. I will encourage people to look before stepping in the path of someone running by looking left. In turn, everyone runs from right to left.
