I will have multiple internet lines beyond what the apartments will have. I will likely be a very big customer of Verizon for their FiOS? service, so I should be able to get what I would want. I will have 2 dedicated FiOS lines. I will also have 2 secondary Starlink lines. With that said, there are four internet services running for the top 2 floors.
One FiOS line one will be exclusively for the penthouse, and the penthouse only. This will be a 5GBPS line, and while I understand that there are many devices with a 1GBPS cap on their ethernet, I am willing to pay for the 5GBPS connection as my switches and network servers will be using 10GBPS connections therefore giving me the best connection options no matter the speed of the network connection. Starlink 1 will be a backup solution in case FiOS goes down for any reason. This will not affect the intercom line as long as the residence has electricity, the telephony server just need the network lines to make and receive calls from the intercom phone to the residence’s phones.
FiOS line two will be the for the servants’ quarters, and guest wing. This means in worst case scenario, everyone should have 650MBPS as a connection. They will also have a Starlink satellite connection, but with the most demanding load, everyone will get about 150-175MBPS for internet service. This is still faster than the cheapest Internet Essential line that I will no longer qualify for since they go up to 75MBPS.
Yes, I know I would be paying for extra services, but the internet is integral for communications. Without internet, the telephone system will not work. Without the internet, web browsing, email, and video streaming will not work. I will try to build a digital movie, and TV library, and this can help with the sudden boredom that one might face with a “slow” internet connection. However, everyone should still be able to do what they need.
